How we compare products
Across our guides, we spend hundreds of hours comparing products, collating customer reviews and researching the practical details behind a purchase. We compare manufacturer specifications with information from UK retailers to explain differences between models. Where we mention customer feedback, it reflects buyers’ reported experiences.
What we check
We check manufacturer specifications, what UK retailers are selling, relevant GOV.UK and HMRC rules, and customer feedback where we mention it. We use those sources to check the facts and named models in our guides.
Hands-on testing
Some products are tested hands-on. Do not assume that every product in a guide has been tested by us. Unless the individual guide describes first-hand testing, read the comparison as research-based.
Prices and review dates
Prices in product boxes come from retailer feeds and can change. A box timestamp shows when that feed updated; it is not the date we last checked the article. An article’s Reviewed date means someone went through the piece and checked its facts and named models during the stated month.
